SC DISCUS - DISCUS is a free database offered to all students in South Carolina.  DISCUS has many great resources to help with your research projects.  See the librarian to get your username and password.

SCOIS – The South Carolina Occupation Information System will provide you with education and career information.  See Mrs. Wood for your username and password.

NBC Learn - Archival broadcasts and videos from NBC.

Website evaluation - Not all websites are created equal!  This site will help you decide which ones are appropriate to use for research.  Also, remember the ABC’s of website evaluation!

  • MLA - This site will help you learn how to cite using MLA format for a variety of sources.  You can also pick up a citation information handout in the media center.

  • Son of Citation Machine- This citation tool will use the information you type in to show you how to correctly cite your sources.

  • EasyBib - This site will help you cite a variety of sources.  Also there is an app for iPads.

News Sites:

Spartanburg Herald Journal - Our local newspaper is full of information on current and local events.

USA Today -A national newspaper with news on events going on throughout the country.

WYFF - One of our local news channels.

WSPA - One of our local news channels.

Reading

Teen Reads – This is a good place to look to find book reviews, booklists, videos, blogs, and other interesting information about young adult books.  Author interviews and contests are also featured on the site.

Guys Read – This is a great site to help all you boys out there discover some really good books.  Features like “Book of the Month,” blogs, and lists of books by subject make this site very interactive and informative.
